The Perry class, aka the FFG-7, features all of the desirable traits of a good frigate in the late Cold War era. These are affordability, reliability and capable anti-submarine warfare abilities. The Perry represents the crucial low end of a balanced high-low mix, which is no longer present in the US Navy.
