Submarines built by North Korea are making up a large number of the force, such as the Sang-O class and the Sang-O II class. Many sources claim that Pyongyang owns at least 40 submarines of these two classes. In addition, North Korea is believed to have Romeo-class submarines, at least 20, and at least 20 more of the Yugo and Yono classes, a class of mini-subs. Not to mention the Gorae-class submarines – which are said to be capable of carrying ballistic missiles, built by this country in recen
