China wants to make Taiwan, a democratic country off its eastern coast, part of China, and has threatened to take it by force if necessary. There has been a lot of speculation about when China might invade, including that it could invade tomorrow. In this episode of China Unscripted, we discuss why China might invade sooner rather than later, why Donald Trump’s 2024 election bid might factor into China’s decision, and what a Taiwan invasion would mean for Japan. Joining us in this episode is Dr. Robert Eldridge, an expert on Japan’s security and diplomacy and a senior researcher for the Japan Forum for Strategic Studies in Tokyo.
