The UK’s Type 26 frigate to begin sea trials, Building the Royal Navy’s silent hunter

General

HMS Glasgow is due to begin sea trials this year, HMS Glasgow is a large warship, but when visiting in person, the interior space inside the Mission Bay is an especially impressive feature of the frigate. The sense of space is further enhanced by the large opening connecting to the hangar and the expansive Chinook-capable flight deck. HMS Glasgow’s spacious bridge is comparable in size to that of the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carrier and incorporates the same raised, sports car-style seats for both the Commanding Officer and Navigator. The bridge features a false floor, allowing wiring to be concealed and enabling easy reconfiguration of the console layout, should the Royal Navy wish to implement changes or upgrades in future.
