The Lun-class Ekranoplan, a marvel of Soviet engineering, was a true innovator in maritime transport. This ground effect vehicle (GEV) defied traditional classification, operating at high speeds just above the water’s surface. Nicknamed the “Caspian Sea Monster” for its imposing size and Cold War-era secrecy, the Lun boasted an impressive feat: despite its massive 380-ton weight, it could take off and land in waves up to two and a half meters high.
