In recent months Russian T-72B3M and some older T-72B variants have been seen with a new, special “sun visor” bolted to their turrets to prevent strikes from top-attack munitions, particularly the American FGM-148 Javelin antitank guided missile. Despite appearing to be relatively inexpensive this could grant the T-72 or any tank ever for that matter the ability to defend itself from attacks coming in at a very high angle without requiring expensive hard-kill active protection systems.
