In order to track and shoot down Russian kamikaze drones, Ukraine has reportedly combined searchlights with anti-aircraft machine guns. Pictures shared on social media show a pickup truck equipped with a DShK machine gun alongside another truck fitted with a searchlight, seemingly working together with the searchlights identifying targets for the gunner to shoot down. Modern air defense systems are not as cost-effective against the cheap drones used by Russia, which have been employed by Russia’s military to attack Ukrainian targets since September.
