‘Russian war machine is not as powerful as we thought’

The Russian war machine is “not as powerful as we thought it was,” the Hudson Institute’s Michael Doran says.“It doesn’t look like President Biden is intent on stopping Putin,” he said.“I don’t want to be too negative about it, he’s taken some very important steps, as he would be the first to tell you, he’s unified Europe, they’re sending significant assistance either directly from the Americans or through third parties to the military effort against the Russians.“But the administration keeps setting red lines for itself – it won’t let the Poles deliver Soviet-era MiG fighters to the Americans for transfer to the Ukrainians.”Mr Doran said it was “unfortunate” the US was stopping short of supplying assistance to Ukrainians which could “deter Putin”.
