Aircraft from Poland’s air force and other NATO allies were scrambled following Russian attacks on Ukraine on April 26. Russia launched a “massive” missile strike on Ukraine, damaging four power plants in the latest barrage targeting the country’s energy supply. Belgian government officials announced their nation is accelerating the delivery of F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets to Ukraine. The Russian Defence Ministry said its forces struck a freight train carrying military equipment supplied to Ukrainian forces by its Western backers. Russia and Ukraine were close to reaching a peace deal in the spring of 2022, according to German newspaper Welt. Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu said the US is behind the Ukraine conflict and is deliberately trying to prolong the fighting.
