Watch a new Virginia-class attack submarine arrive at the Port of Cape Canaveral. Believed to be the USS New Jersey. The USS New Jersey (SSN-796) is a Virginia-class attack submarine. The vessel was commissioned into the US Navy on September 14th, 2024. It is the third vessel to be named after the state with the previous two being battleships. Submarines frequently visit the Naval Ordinance Test Unit (NOTU) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The area is famous for launching rockets and this includes a history of missile testing.
