US Navy is making steady progress with the next class of Destroyers currently known as DDG(X).The latest DDG(X) concept and new details of its design were unveiled at the Surface Navy Association (SNA) National Symposium in Arlington, Virginia, as part of a presentation by Capt. David Hart, who is the DDG(X) program manager. The DDG(X) is intended to succeed the Arleigh Burke class destroyers and the aim is to have work on the construction of the new warships started before the end of this decade. The new Destroyers will be critical to keeping US Navy’s dominance in the ocean intact and hence the stakes are high.Huntington Ingalls Industries and General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, the shipbuilders primarily responsible for building the US Navy’s previous destroyers are working together with US Navy’s DDG(X) team since March.
