The US has officially launched a new drone warship, the USX-1 Defiant. This ship is designed to operate autonomously for long periods at sea. Designed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, this medium-sized ship aligns with the agency’s ambitious No Manning Required Ship, or NOMARS, program. DARPA has hinted at developing missile-carrying variants of the Defiant, expanding its functional uses even further.
