K808 APC: The Korean New Generation of Armored Vehicles

The K808 8×8 armored vehicles, Previously known as the KW2, developed by Hyundai Rotem as a private venture in 2012. In 2016 these armored vehicles successfully passed final qualification tests and were approved for procurement. The first batch was delivered to the South Korean Army in 2017. Full scale production began in 2018. These new wheeled armored vehicles replace the ageing K200 series of tracked armored personnel carriers in the South Korean army service. The South Korean army plans to deploy 600 new wheeled armored vehicles, including 500 with 8×8 configuration and 100 with 6×6 configurations.
