Israel has launched extensive air strikes on southern Lebanon. The Israeli military said its warplanes struck more than 100 Hezbollah sites, including a weapons storage facility. Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said Israel is embarking on a “new phase of the war”. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said deadly explosions earlier in the week “crossed all red lines”. Israel has not said it was behind the attacks – which saw pagers and walkie-talkies explode simultaneously across the country, which killed more than 37 people and injured thousands.
