Israel’s stated goal in the Gaza war was to destroy Hamas. That has not happened. A few days into the ceasefire, Hamas wants to show it’s still a force to be reckoned with. Images released on Sunday by its military wing are clearly designed as a show of force. They’re supposedly also to send a message to Israel that the group, designated as a terrorist organization by many countries, is far from destroyed.
