Built as a carrier-based fighter aircraft for the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps, the F9F-6 Cougar had several design differences from its predecessor.The F9F-6 had a length of 12.47 m, a wingspan of 10.52 m, a width of 4.32 m, a height of 3.747 m, an empty weight of 5.2 tons, and a maximum takeoff weight of 9.5 tons.
