Following the successful use of the US-made M142 HIMARS (High Mobility Artillery Rocket System) in various battlefields, Australia is interested in acquiring it and is ready to produce the MLRS in its country.This was by a Lockheed Martin representative, who said that plans to manufacture the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System in Australia were under discussion.Canberra is already negotiating with the US for the M142 HIMARS lethal weapons system, which could increase its military’s offensive power.In May 2022, the US announced that it had asked Australia to buy 20 M142 HIMARS for approximately US$385 million or AUD 542 million.
