Germany’s Navy targets four new state-of-the-art U212 subs

The German Navy is reportedly set to bolster its submarine fleet with the acquisition of four advanced U212 CD submarines. German media, citing Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, have highlighted his repeated references in recent days to this impending procurement.The estimated cost of these submarines is approximately €4.7 billion, a figure corroborated by sources familiar with the deal. This sum is said to include comprehensive support packages such as spare parts and training, ensuring the vessels are fully operational upon delivery. According to insiders, an initial deposit of €1 billion is expected to be paid to the manufacturer, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems [tkMS], shortly after the contract is signed.
