Summary
This video from Binkov's Battlegrounds examines a hypothetical conflict over Greenland between the United States and a united European military alliance. The scenario assumes a US intent to seize the territory while Europe mobilizes to defend it. The analysis begins by establishing specific rules for the simulation and presenting key statistics regarding Greenland itself. Subsequent segments tally the combined military capabilities of European nations, focusing on factors such as distance, infrastructure limitations, and logistical challenges involving cargo aircraft and carriers. The discussion extends to surface-to-air missiles, various naval vessels including submarines and anti-submarine warfare assets, and the composition of combat aircraft fleets. A significant portion addresses the critical issue of combat radius and how it affects operational reach. The video also evaluates the US advantage in reconnaissance during an air war and considers the strategic implications of existing US bases located within Europe. The presentation concludes by synthesizing these elements to determine which side would possess the stronger military position in this specific hypothetical engagement.
