‘Innovation’ is one of the most overused words today. But the invention of the submarine launched ballistic missile is often credited as being the most innovative project of all time. Not only did it require the invention of several completely new key technologies but it also changed the way large-scale projects are managed in the West. It is also the reason many of the modern day ‘tech-bros’ who throw around the word ‘innovation’ also keep insisting on calling everything ‘project North Star’.
