At DIMDEX 2026, held in Doha between 19–23 January, Naval News interviewed Hasan Al-Thani, General Manager of Performance Marine, a Qatar-based boat designer and builder. The local company unveiled several new unmanned surface vessels (USV) during the event.=====================Although still a startup, Performance Marine presented a notable presence at the exhibition, showcasing a fleet of manned boats and unmanned surface vehicles. The company has moved beyond conceptual development and is actively building and delivering platforms, with a clear focus on modularity and operational use.During the interview, Mr. Al-Thani responded to Naval News’ questions regarding the company’s latest unmanned product, the Ghost 7 USV. The platform was displayed at DIMDEX in different configurations, highlighting a flexible design philosophy intended to support multiple mission profiles.Another key topic discussed was the AUSV 39 unmanned surface vehicle. Performance Marine recently delivered this newly built platform to Barzan Holding, the official procurement organization of the Qatari Emiri Armed Forces. According to the company, the AUSV 39 has successfully completed sea trials conducted by Barzan. Performance Marine now expects the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces to take the platform into service, marking a significant step for both the company and Qatar’s unmanned maritime ambitions.In addition to unmanned systems, Performance Marine also revealed a new manned vessel concept, the Ghost 24 MRTP. Currently at the conceptual design stage, the platform is planned to be armed with the Naval Strike Missile from Kongsberg. While the design remains at an early phase, it reflects the company’s intent to expand into more heavily armed surface combatant concepts.===
