KQ – 200 Anti – Submarine Aircraft: China’s New Weapon for Tracking Submarines

General

When compared to Western aircraft like the P-8 Poseidon, the KQ-200 uses turboprop engines instead of jet engines. Turboprops are generally slower, but they are very efficient for long patrol missions and can remain airborne for extended periods. While the P-8 Poseidon benefits from newer jet technology and advanced sensors, the KQ-200 represents a significant improvement in China’s ability to conduct maritime patrol and anti-submarine operations.
