In late April 1944 the Germans launched a new weapon against England – Fritz X, the world’s first operational smart bomb! The target was a new British battleship anchored in Devonport, the Royal Navy’s base in Western England. In a daring nighttime raid 12 Dornier 217s armed with Fritz X bombs set out to make the first smart bomb attack on mainland Britain in history!
