Firing the M134D Minigun From a Blackhawk

General

I was invited to fire the M134D Minigun from a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter during a live-fire range event to vlog the experience. Thanks again to Dillon Aero for the invite and opportunity. This video shows what it’s actually like to run a door-mounted minigun from the open side of a helicopter. The recoil, the sound, the handling, and the perspective you only get when you’re in the door with nothing but air beneath you. The M134D is a 7.62 NATO rotary machine gun capable of extremely high rates of fire up to 6000 rounds a minute and sustained engagements. Mounted on helicopters, it provides close-in firepower and suppression while the aircraft is moving, hovering, or maneuvering. What you’ll see in this video: Door gunner perspective from a Blackhawk helicopter Live-fire M134D Minigun footage Real recoil and sound with no cinematic tricks How the system feels and behaves in flight
