The F-107 Ultra Sabre was also known as the “maneater” given its unusual location of the air intakes above the canopy. The aircraft was North American Aviation’s entry into the tactical fighter bomber competition of the mid 1950’s that lost out to Republic’s F-105 Thunderchief.
