The C-17 Globemaster III is a heavy military transport aircraft developed by McDonnell Douglas in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The aircraft was based on the unique technical features of the YC-15 prototype, combining the characteristics of a medium-heavy transport with short takeoff and landing capabilities.
