USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) modernization contract modification worth $154.8 million was awarded to HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division in August 2023.The contractor started installing the Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) weapon system, a conventional, boost-glide hypersonic weapon system, in place of the current 155mm dual gun system on August 19 after the vessel arrived in Pascagoula, Mississippi, from San Diego.
