Why the U S Navy Depends on These Ships | THE HIDDEN FLEET

Why does the U.S. Navy depend on ships that are not warships? This documentary explores the hidden naval logistics network that keeps U.S. Navy ships opereting far from home Town. We follow fleet replenishment oilers, dry cargos and ammunition ships, replenishment at sea, vertical replenishment, and the civilian mariners behind Military Sealift Commands. Using real operational examples, including RIMPAC 2026, we trace how marin fuel, aviation fuel, food, ammunition, spare parts, mail, and replacement equipments move from shore to the fleet. Then comes the deeper problem: the ships that suply the fleet also need fuel, crews, maintenance, ports, and another supply network behind them. We also examine civilian mariner staffing, missile reload at sea, the Transferrable Reload At Sea Method, and newer distributed resupply experiments.
