Why a Laser Weapon Can’t Hit What’s Beyond the Horizon


A laser can't hit what it can't see. Unlike a missile you can launch at a target beyond the horizon, a ship's laser can't touch an incoming threat until it clears the horizon, sometimes as little as 5 to 10 miles out. And that's before the atmosphere itself starts stealing the beam's power.
