A Russian Mi-8 military helicopter has been struck by Ukrainian kamikaze drones and burned to ashes in the Luhansk region, following an operation by Ukraine’s Third Separate Assault Brigade targeting Russian military logistics. The operation was carried out by operators from the SKYFOM strike drone platoon of the brigade’s Unmanned Systems Battalion. The Third Army Corps published footage of the attack on October 30. According to the brigade, the drone operators spotted the Russian helicopter while conducting a raid against enemy logistics and dispatched a Hornet kamikaze drone to intercept it. Although the helicopter’s cruising speed exceeded that of the Ukrainian attack drone, its crew was unable to escape the strike. The Russian aircraft changed its flight direction after spotting the approaching drone but managed to outrun it. However, once the Mi-8 landed, Ukrainian operators struck the aircraft near its fuel tanks. A second Hornet drone then followed up with another strike, resulting in the helicopter being completely engulfed in flames, according to the Third Assault Brigade.
