As a result of Ukrainian airstrikes on the night of September 17, an oil refinery in Yaroslavl, Russia, caught fire. A fire also broke out at an airfield in Rostov-on-Don, Astra reports .
OSINT analysis confirmed the fire at the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl. Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Evraev warned of the drone threat in the region and the operation of air defense systems.
According to him, the exit from Yaroslavl towards Moscow was blocked. He did not provide information on the aftermath of the attack. However, the publication has established that the oil refinery is the one on fire. The company's website states that it processes approximately 15 million tons of oil per year and is one of the five largest Russian refineries. Its product range includes motor gasoline, Euro-5 diesel fuel, aviation kerosene and jet fuel, a wide range of oils, bitumen, paraffin and wax products, liquefied gases, and more.
The publication recalled that the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck this plant at least eight times in 2026. According to Astra, the strike in Rostov-on-Don likely caused a fire in a section of the military airfield where aircraft are parked. There is no official information yet on the aftermath of the attack.
The Exilenova+ Telegram channel also confirmed that Defense Forces drones attacked Rostov on the night of September 17.
"Aircraft and military base infrastructure were hit. The secondary detonation was recorded from various angles," the statement said.
