The U.S. Navy has awarded NorthStar Maritime Dismantlement Services a $418.5 million contract to dismantle, recycle, and dispose of ex-USS Enterprise (CVN-65), the world’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. The project, to be conducted in Mobile, Alabama, is scheduled for completion by September 2030 and will mark a consequential test case for the retirement of America’s nuclear-carrier fleet.
