The U.S. Navy has recently achieved a significant milestone in the development of the Harpoon Coastal Defense System (HCDS), with the weapon system successfully engaging and sinking a maritime target.
The HCDS is intended for delivery to Taiwan under a $2.37 billion arms agreement covering 100 coastal defense systems, 400 RGM-84L-4 Harpoon Block II anti-ship missiles, and associated equipment.
