The Skyraider II Is the First USAF Plane Since the Vietnam War to Have a Propeller – The U.S. Air Force has brought a propeller-driven attack aircraft back into service with the OA-1K Skyraider II. Derived from the AT-802U and developed for the Armed Overwatch program, this turboprop aircraft is designed for close air support, precision strikes, and armed reconnaissance in permissive and semi-permissive airspace. With long loiter time, short-field capability, and lower operating costs than high-end fighter jets, the Skyraider II offers a very different approach to modern air support.
