On March 11, Commander of U.S. Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, confirmed to the media that the United States is using artificial intelligence systems to directly support ongoing combat operations over Iran. And while he didn’t specifically name the artificial intelligence tools that are being employed in this fight, it’s all but certain that chief among them is the Maven Smart System, an artificial-intelligence-supported command and control capability that soaks up data from sensors all over the battlefield, fuses it all into a single god’s-eye view, and then makes executing strikes against targets as simple as a few clicks of a mouse.
