A 14-year-old boy was killed and at least seven people were injured when a Russian drone struck a 16-story residential building Friday in Kyiv’s Pecherskyi district around 8 a.m., according to the city’s military administration and police. According to Associated Press the drone hit the building’s 10th and 11th floors. Mykyta Sysuev, 23, a neighbor of the boy who was killed, recalled the aftermath of the attack. “There were no doors, no windows. Everything was broken, with glass lying everywhere,” he said. Sysuev said he later checked the news and learned that his teenage neighbor had been killed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said eight regions came under attack overnight. Russian authorities, meanwhile, said Ukrainian long-range strikes killed one person and wounded 21 others. Nadia Alekseeva, an 88-year-old Kyiv pensioner, said she could not foresee an end to the war and urged the United States to take a more active role in pressuring Russia to withdraw from Ukrainian territory.
