Northrop Grumman has left Sierra Nevada Corporation’s team for the Navy’s next jet trainer. SNC says its Freedom offering is still moving forward, and General Atomics says it remains on Team Freedom.
The Navy’s Undergraduate Jet Training System competition also includes Textron and Leonardo’s M-346N offering. A clean-sheet design is another possibility worth watching: Hardpoint Dynamics has posted a UJTS concept on its website, though we have not confirmed its status as a Navy bidder.
