NATO increased its military presence in the Baltic Sea after an undersea cable connecting Estonia and Finland was damaged on December 25, suspected sabotage. In response, NATO deployed surveillance ships, underwater drones and specialized equipment to secure critical infrastructure.Joint patrols and exercises were also tightened to prevent further threats and keep this strategic region safe.
