Romania scrambled F-16 fighter jets to target an explosive-laden suspected Russian marine drone in the Black Sea. The drone was detected just a few hundred metres from the Neptun Deep offshore gas project. Defence minister Miruta confirmed the drone was destroyed to protect hundreds of platform workers and secure critical energy infrastructure. The marine drone was hit by a fighter jet and completely destroyed by a responding vessel. The incident underscores heightened security risks in the Black Sea, where Romania has repeatedly faced Russian airspace breaches and floating mines.
