On October 9th, 2026, President Trump announced that Russia intended to release massive quantities of diesel fuel onto the global market. We examine the specific figures provided in the statement to see if they align with the current realities of the energy sector and existing international restrictions.
Essentially, we are using 3.6 million barrels of diesel, but between imports and domestic production, we only have 3.4 million barrels of diesel available. That means we must find 200K barrels to close the gap.
