Crowds gathered in Tehran, Mashhad and other Iranian cities to mark the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday, with speakers leading chants against the US and Israel.
Meanwhile, Washington said its forces struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island, alleging preparations to fire rockets and sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said several soldiers and civilians were killed or wounded, and vowed retaliation.
