US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has unveiled plans for a massive new shipyard in Maryland, described by the Trump administration as the largest new US shipyard since World War II. The $6.6 billion Arsenal-2 project will build critical components for Virginia-class submarines, autonomous underwater vessels and other undersea systems. Backed by Anduril and the US Navy, the two-million-square-foot facility is expected to create more than 3,100 permanent jobs, with production beginning in 2030.
