F – 14 Tomcat Pilot’s Song About RIOs is Hilarious (and True)

General

Veteran F-14 Tomcat pilot, Tom “D-Day” Lucas, wrote this pop country song titled “Stick and a Banana” as a tribute to radar intercept officers. As D-Day put it, “RIOs were the guys building the picture, calling the fight, running the radar, and occasionally guiding the new pilots around like a chimp chasing a banana on a stick. Built from real ready-room humor, Tomcat culture, and life in the F-14.”
