Drones attacked Volgograd and Samara, with LUKOIL refineries and an oil depot under attack

Drones attacked the Russian cities of Volgograd and Samara on the night of October 2, hitting oil refining infrastructure . In Volgograd, a fire broke out near the industrial zone where the Lukoil oil refinery is located, while in Samara, a fire broke out at a pipeline control station. The Volgograd Region Governor confirmed the attack and reported one injury.

OSINT analysts reported a possible attack on oil refineries. According to them, the facility in question is the Volgograd Oil Refinery, also known as Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka (Lukoil-Volgograd Oil Refinery), one of the largest oil refining facilities in Russia, with an annual capacity of approximately 14-15 million tons of oil.

"Today, explosions were heard for a long time in Volgograd, both in the city itself and in the area of the Volgograd Oil Refinery industrial zone," monitoring channels reported.

The Volgograd Region Governor confirmed the attack on the region and stated that the shelling in the regional capital allegedly caused a fire in an apartment building. He added that one person was injured, and claimed the attack targeted industrial infrastructure.

In the early morning, Telegram channels also reported a series of explosions in Samara, where an air raid alert was issued due to the threat of drones. Analysts subsequently reported that a fire was raging at a linear production and control station in the city—a large hub on a main pipeline that receives, stores, pumps, and distributes oil or petroleum products. At the time of publication, there was no official confirmation of damage to this facility.
