On September 10, leading U.S. AI company Anthropic released a 154-page threat intelligence report, triggering a major shock across China’s technology and political circles. The report named seven major Chinese AI companies, accusing them of conducting “unauthorized distillation” and extracting capabilities from the Claude model over a long period of time. Even more alarming, during this process, large amounts of highly sensitive information — including Chinese military data, core state-owned enterprise data, and military simulation plans targeting Taiwan — were allegedly sent to U.S.-based servers by AI companies promoted as symbols of China’s technological strength. This was no longer just a dispute over technology misuse, but a major intelligence security crisis.
