CENTCOM has released footage of U.S. forces destroying an Iranian affiliated dhow in the Gulf of Oman after safely removing its crew. Former USAF F-15E combat pilot and Thunderbird pilot Max Afterburner breaks down the reported AH-1Z Viper involvement, maritime surveillance, and why a small boat can matter to a much larger targeting network.
The engagement happened October 6, 2026, and the footage was released October 14. CENTCOM says the dhow was conducting surveillance and targeting U.S. Navy ships. We examine that account alongside IRGC commander Ali Azmaei’s later threats over the Strait of Hormuz, continuing commercial-shipping risks, and reported U.S. contingency planning for Iran.
In the Global Roundup: Ukraine’s newly released Mi-28NM interception footage, its claimed Neptune missile strike damaging six Su-34 aircraft at Borisoglebsk, and the latest Houthi and Saudi developments, including the disputed Medina-region missile report and new missile supply-chain findings.
Aircraft losses and damage assessments remain developing. Combatant claims are attributed throughout. Clip sources and verification notes accompany the production script.
