The Harrier is oficially retired.
On June 3, 2026, the AV-8B Harrier II had its last flight. This month, Marine Attack Squadron VMA-223, "The Bulldogs", held its deactivation ceremony marking the end of the Harrier era. The F-35B will replace the AV-8B for all vertical-landing and strike operations.
