The aviation world holds the Antonov AN-225 in special regard because it was the largest plane ever constructed. Engineers created the AN-225 as the biggest airplane humankind has ever built despite breaking limitations of aviation capability. As Mriya, the AN-225, gained its Ukrainian nickname due to its meaning of “Dream,” the aircraft embodied the highest ideals of human inventiveness and aspirations in aviation. A war attack on Ukraine transformed Mriya from its former majestic state into a burnt hulk of wreckage that stunned all in the aviation industry.
