Sweden’s Visby-Class Corvette Gets CAMM Missiles & ExLS VLS – A New Era in Naval Defense

General

At the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space 2025 expo, Lockheed Martin confirmed a major upgrade for Sweden’s stealthy Visby-class corvettes: the integration of CAMM (Common Anti-air Modular Missile) via the modular ExLS vertical launch system. This marks the first time the Visby-class gains close-range air defense capability. The upgrade uses the three-cell ExLS launcher, jointly developed by Lockheed Martin and MBDA, allowing each corvette to carry up to 36 CAMM missiles. These ships, known for their stealthy carbon fiber construction and advanced anti-ship and anti-submarine systems, are now evolving into multi-role platforms with enhanced survivability. In this video, we break down the capabilities of the CAMM missile, the ExLS system, and what this means for the future of Sweden’s naval forces. Learn how ExLS’s modular open architecture can also integrate future weapons like the RIM-116 RAM, Hellfire, JAGM, and Nulka decoys.
