The U.S. Navy has announced a new frigate class called FF(X) after canceling the Constellation-class program. FF(X) is planned as a smaller surface combatant based on the U.S. Coast Guard’s Legend-class National Security Cutter hull, with HII Ingalls selected as the lead yard. The Navy says the goal is faster delivery, lower risk, and a first hull in the water by 2028. In this video, we cover what the Navy officially confirmed, why the program shifted, what missions FF(X) is expected to handle, and what key details are still not public.Visuals note: Unless otherwise specified, any images or clips shown are conceptual or illustrative. The appearance of U.S. Department of Defense (DoW) visual information does not imply or constitute DoW endorsement.#USNavy #FFX #Frigate #Shipbuilding #HII #Ingalls #NavalWarfare #DefenseNews #MaritimeSecurityReferencesU.S. Navy.
